Ebony Montgomery

Inspired by her experience as a judge for the Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year Competition, Ebony’s profound desire to increase the health literacy and subsequent quality of life of youth and communities through an understanding of policy and social determinants of health has been her lodestar for the past four years. Ebony sets forth to achieve this by teaching youth and young adults about law, policy and public health, thus allowing them to effectively advocate for their personal and community well-being. This expectation is motivated by the understanding that policy lays the foundation for the experiences and health outcomes that people have everyday in their lives.

Education

Ebony holds a Juris Doctor from The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Law and a Master of Public Health, with a concentration in Health Policy from Emory University. Her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences is from Cornell University.

Experience

Ebony counseled pregnant and postpartum women for the Special Supplemental Program for Women Infants and Children (WIC); and contributed to several Congressional Reports as a Senior Research Associate with ICF International. With a team, she evaluated federally-funded children’s mental health and youth suicide prevention programs.

Building on her previously held role as an Assistant Professor of Health Policy at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, Ebony continues to educate young adults on the role that policy has in shaping mental health, physical health, and environmental health in our communities.
