Improving the health
and quality of life of individuals and communities

Building an Understanding of Policy and Social Determinants of Health

Early education in policy is rudimentary for the extraordinary health literacy learning continuum that is ongoing throughout one’s lifetime. By engaging youth in unbiased thoughtful conversations around policy, social determinants of health, health equity, and health outcome disparities, they are introduced to central themes that are necessary for improving, not only their health, but their quality of life.

The Curriculum

Policy lays the foundation for the experiences and health outcomes that people experience everyday.

The Health Advocacy Policy Preparation for Youth Curriculum (H.A.P.P.Y.) stresses the importance of learning concepts surrounding policy, particularly health policy, at an early age.

The result is conscientiousness, self-empowerment, and ownership over their individual and collective community condition.
